Program Note:
Like a city skyline, Cityscape makes use of a symmetrical form, entering with sparse, seemingly unmeasured events which build slowly into an ambient and atmospheric landscape of sound. With increasing congestion, a rhythmic pattern enters and takes over, adding tonal shifts which suggest a diversity of perspectives within a shared experience. Eventually a repetitive, reiterative pattern dies away as the city once again fades into the distance.
