Program Note:
Flutist Karen Robbins commissioned 3 by IV in honor of the 80th Anniversary of the Brookline Music School, where it was premiered in 2004. A twenty-three-minute trio in four movements, the flute and clarinet players double on piccolo and bass clarinet. Movements I and III are slow and lyrical; II and IV are fast and challenging, employing idiosyncratic themes and rhythms.
